Blogs of Note!!!

To all my readers:

WOW ... what a difference a day makes. I've been posting to my blog - Traveling Chemist - since January 2008 and have had only a few comments posted. Then, suddenly, a whole collection of postings!! Many thanks!! I suppose this relates to my blog having been named as one of the "Blogs of Note" on September 30th! (Thanks to the Blogspot editors!) I do appreciate your comments and will read each and EVERY one, eventually. I may not have time to respond to every comment, however. But I'll try to answer a few ... just be patient.

I'd like to repeat a comment of my own pertaining to the theme of this blog (i.e., traveling!!): One major bonus of traveling is that it makes one appreciate what is often taken for granted back home!! And one more bonus: the diverse cultures and people that I encounter along the way all add to my understanding of other ways of life. And if I have a great time along the way, so much the better!

This blog is extremely interesting to me. I did some searching of the "Blogs of Note", and found this the most entertaining. Traveling is one of my goals of life. I would love to be able to travel the world and see many cultures and people while eating the local food and taking in the sights. I just recently started a blog of my own on here called, The Rise Up. I have yet to get any comments and I am hoping to get it rolling. The blog is basically about my journey into the career-world; as I just graduated college with my degree in Hospitality Management. I also enjoy designing websites and graphic art. Very cool blog you have here; very enjoyable. If you have some time, stop by my blog and post a couple comments so I can get mine rolling :)

Thank you for the quick post! I have definitely thought about going abroad with my degree, but unfortunately my girlfriend cannot move from Central Florida just yet. She is originally from New Jersey, so we've been talking about moving to NYC or right across the river. From my research, there seems to be a lot of jobs in the hospitality industry in New York City. Thanks again!

Yes I found you through blogs of note too.
Replying to comments - just visit the commenter on their blog direct from the link.
It is by visiting other blogs that you build up many followers.

Greetings Chemist. Congratulations on Blogs of Note - well done.

Let me say this about blogging etiquette. What I usually do, especially if there is not an overwhelming number of comments which is not typical, is to answer each comment in the comments area.

Sometimes comments pose questions - ones that I feel everyone else might benefit from and these I quote and put up a post about it. Sometimes I also answer these comments in the comments area but just as often I'll just do it the other way.

So I'm posting this because I would have liked to have had this knowledge when I first began my blogging and I'm happy to pass it on to you for whichever way you choose to use it.

Goodlife.

This is an excellent blog. Congratulations!
I too am a chemist, but a much older one, self- and unemployed. I always ask myself, Where have all the chemists gone?
I will continue to monitor your blog.

I came across your blog in the "Blogs of Note" area. I really enjoyed reading it and will put you on my blog roll.
It is nice to read a blog from somebody in the energy industry (or closely related).

I also found you via the blogs of note...and about the comments, if you go into customise/settings/comments, scroll right down to the bottom, you'll see a box where you can put your email address. All comments on your blog will then be emailed to that email address. Provided the commenter has an email listed in their settings in their own blog, you can just hit the reply button, just like an ordinary email...hope that helps!

I too am a Chemist by training, retired, like to travel and doing a lot of volunteer work.

You could not have said it better - traveling to other countries breaks the "culture barrier", educates people on the ways and customs of others. There is so much to learn from people of other countries. I'm originally from the Philippines, educated both in the US and my home country, and I have settled here in New York. I've traveled quite a bit but not as extensively as you have, and I've made very good friends along the way.

There'll be no war if only people in this world will get to really know and understand one another.

More power to you.

I like everything about your blog: the subject, the style, the way it looks. Keep on writing, You'll do well with any subject, not just travelling which is,naturally, a popular one.

Thanks for visiting. York is a wonderful place with so much to see and digest.
The picture i posted was of Ripon Cathedral, not nearly as grand as Yorkminster.
